The idea behind Love from the STARS came from a group of friends who wanted to celebrate SG50 with a meaningful gesture to help those in need. “There is no better way to celebrate our 50th birthday than to be able to share with the underpriviledge.” said Tan Chee Meng.

Wakin is no stranger to some of Singapore’s charitable causes. Last year he helped Assumption English School raise close to $1 million for the school’s upgrading project. “There is a great spirit of giving and sharing amongst the people of Singapore. When there is a call for help, they always respond generously. This is a meaningful and unique collaboration. I am excited to be part of it, and to celebrate this special year with Singaporeans.” said Wakin.

Funds for Love from the STARS will be raised through cash donations, auctions and sale of banquet tables for the charity gala dinner and concert.
